Canadian cannabis stores to sell beers, creams  candies

The second phase of the total legalization of marijuana in Canada,  opened on Tuesday, December 17 with the sale of edible products made with cannabis along with a warning from the Health Ministry not to use the product.

In theory, Canadians can legally goodies from chocolates to marijuana-based beers and gummy bears. But, many Canadians will have to wait until January to savor them.because of  logistical and regulatory problems in the three main provinces Ontario, Quebec, and Alberta,

Recreational use of marijuana was legalized in Canada on October 17, 2018. But only marijuana for smoking. For edible products, cannabis extracts, such as those used for vaping, and creams derived from it, the Canadian Government decided to delay the legalization one year, a  date that was fulfilled on October 17, 2019. Health authorities demanded a period of two months to approve the sale of products, which ended Tuesday..

The Minister of Health of Canada, Patty Hajdu, said today that the Government “has legalized and regulated cannabis so that it does not reach young people and its benefits are not taken advantage of by criminals.”

“To achieve these goals, cannabis edibles, extracts and creams can be legally sold in Canada, following strict rules and only through authorized vendors,” Hajdu added. In Ontario, the most populous province of Canada, as well as in Quebec and Alberta, local authorities have established their own marijuana distribution system  but the stores will not receive their first products until mid-January while testing to ensure quality

Quebec tougher
Stricter regulations are in force in Quebec than in the rest of the country and some types of edible products that are legal in the rest of Canada are not in the French-speaking province.

In recent hours, the Ministry of Health has recognized that it does not know what the health effects of consumers of the inhalation of vapors created by electronic cigarettes are.

Although they have studied the components of cannabis fluids to vape, what they have not done is check how they are altered by being heated by electronic cigarettes. The Minister of Health of Canada recommended Tuesday that cannabis that her own government has legalized is not consumed.

“Given the recent cases of lung diseases associated with vaping, the Ministry of Health requested additional information from licensed producers about the ingredients and formulation of certain vaping products,” Hadju said in a statement.”The best way for Canadians to protect their health is not to use cannabis, and adults who choose to use cannabis should avoid products from illegal or unknown sources,”.
