Panama top destination for wealthy travelers, retirement
PANAMA has become the destination of choice for wealthy vacationers according to Virtuoso, a company that specializes in luxury travel.
It reports that that the country has topped its list of bookings for holiday travel among its wealthy clients for the first quarter of the year with reservations up 107 percent compared to the same period last year, beating out destinations such as Thailand, Switzerland, South Africa, Colombia and Spain
Virtuoso analyzed data of 380 international travel agencies.
The company says that, in recent years, Panama has been in the shadow of other destinations such as Costa Rica, but this trend is changing thanks to the growing popularity of destinations such as Bocas del Toro.
Travel & Leisure magazine has ranked Bocas del Toro as a top destination this year due to its natural beauty and unspoiled character.
Panama was also named its top destination to retire.
