Multiple pile up injures 10, sets major jam

A MULTIPLE traffic  accident involving over 20 vehicles injured  10 people including  three  children and caused one of the year’s biggest traffic jams on  Thursday afternoon, June 9.

The pile up took place   on Via Centenario, towards the interior and involved sedans, 4×4’s, trucks and mules, reports the Unified Emergency Management System (ADD) 911.Many of the vehicles were write offs.

The  three injured  minors, were taken to Hospital del Nino, and  four adults, were taken to Santo Tomas. Hospital, to receive medical attention. All patients were reported in stable condition.

In the area of the collision, paramedics evaluated other people who were affected, but whose condition was less serious.

One of the drivers involved in the incident,  told TVN Noticias that  his life was saved by a miracle, and if he had not hit  the railing on one side of the road  he  would be dead.

Another driver said that the place needed more signage, especially because work with heavy equipment was going on  in the area.
