The BBC WESER Ship Arrived Monday June 10
The BBC WESER ship arrived this Monday, June 10, at the Punta Rincón de Colón international port to unload supplies. It is important to reiterate to citizens that there are no active mining operations or management of the stored copper concentrate, as established in the preservation plan. This is the terminal that was used by Minera Panamá before its closure. The current port operation that just happened was carried out in terminal 1 for general activity, not in terminal 2 in which the export of copper concentrate was managed when mining activity existed. A total of 132,000 tons of copper concentrate are stored at the Cobre Panamá project. This, after the plenary session of the Supreme Court of Justice (CSJ) unanimously declared that Law 406 of October 20, 2023, which approved the concession contract between the State and Minera Panamá, was unconstitutional. This was reported by the Ministry of Commerce and Industries (Mici) in a statement, in which it detailed that the ship will also disembark empty containers, maintenance parts and equipment, water and non-perishable food in accordance with the Preservation and Safe Management Plan of the Panama Mining Company. A team from the National Customs Authority is present at said terminal to verify imported supplies.
