Ex bank officer released from detention

THE FORMER deputy manager of Caja de Ahorros (CA), Rodrigo Arosemena, has been released from custody but has been ordered not to leave the country.

First Anti-Corruption Prosecutor Tania Sterling granted his release  request. Previously, Judge Alina Hubiedo had refused his request for bail.

Former officials of the bank are being investigated for irregularities in a $9 million loan granted to the consortium in charge of the failed Amador convention center project.

Arosemena was detained Oct. 12 along with former Chairman Riccardo Francolini. Francolini remains in custody reports La Prensa.
