Playboy embezzlement trial stalled again
THE hearing into alleged embezzlement from Panama’s Innovation Authority (AIG) by “man about town” Mayer Mizrachi Matalón – and four others – for alleged embezzlement from the Panama Innovation Authority (AIG) was suspended on Monday, September 17 as one of the parties announced the filing of an appeal.
The hearing has been moved to October 2, 3 and 4 before the Thirteenth Criminal Court.
On July 30, Judge Alina Hubiedo called Mizrachi to trial along with the former director of the AIG Eduardo Enrique Jaén; Adonay Ortega Sánchez, Eduardo Augusto Briceño Avila and EdgarAriel Rodríguez.
The case is related to the alleged breach of a contract for $211,850 between the AIG and Innovative Ventura, S.A. -Property of Mizrachi- for the installation of software for the encryption of cell phones, known as Criptext. The work was never completed and playboy Mizrachi fled the country and sought political asylum in Colombia.
