In August 2026, Panama officially unified its international image by launching its first comprehensive country brand: “Panamá, Anfitrión del Mundo” “Panama, Host of the World”. Developed jointly by PROMTUR Panama and the Panama Tourism Authority (ATP), this strategy shifts the nation’s marketing from standalone tourism campaigns to an all-encompassing global identity.

The main objective of the brand is to triple international tourist arrivals, build long-term trust, and present a single, cohesive voice to visitors, digital nomads, and foreign investors. Varying from strictly leisure travel, the “Host of the World” brand integrates critical sectors into a unified platform of five pillars.

Tourism: Promoting deep cultural, ecological, and regional travel beyond Panama City.

Investment: Attracting foreign direct investment by emphasizing Panama’s unique logistics hub capabilities.

Exports: Highlighting Panamanian-made products globally under a synchronized umbrella.

Culture: Celebrating the country’s rich history, gastronomy, diverse heritage, and warm hospitality.

Sustainability: Ensuring that economic growth and tourism development respect and preserve Panama’s unparalleled biodiversity.

The brand’s visual logo was crafted with local and international perception studies to create a visual identity and symbolism.

The Logo Shapes: The curved typography explicitly evokes the architecture of the iconic Bridge of the Americas and represents the meeting point of the Pacific and Atlantic oceans.

The Color Palette: Blue signifies Panama’s dual coastlines and its historical role as a global transit hub, while Red represents the energy, warmth, and spirit of the Panamanian people.

A frequent pitfall of historical promotional efforts was that marketing slogans retired every five years with changing government administrations. To combat this, the Panamanian government and private sector leaders are actively working to pass a dedicated law through the National Assembly. This legal framework aims to protect “Anfitrión del Mundo” as a permanent policy of state, ensuring the $6 million initial investment continues to yield results sustainably over the next decade.  Rather than pursuing high volume mass tourism, the plan focuses on the the discerning traveler.

To avoid over-tourism in Panama City and systematically spread out traveler distribution, the plan outlines tailored action plans for nine priority regions.

The Master Plan is actively implemented through critical partnerships like the Panama Alliance for Community Tourism (PACTO), a joint venture that helps rural communities build tourism enterprises. This collaboration laid the foundation for SOSTUR, Panama’s community-based digital booking platform, allowing conscious travelers access indigenous and regional eco-adventures, cultural preservation, nature restoration, and dignified local employment.
