Mobility restrictions ease from Monday, Sep.14

Men and women will be able to go shopping  or strolling together  and stay out until 11pm  from Monday September 14 following a  Ministry of Health (Minsa)  decree eliminating the gender based quarantine and published Friday, September 11 in the Official Gazette.

The move comes after  a  steady drop in Covid-19 infections and a falling Rt (re transmission rate) in recent weeks

Safe e-conducts that issued to workers in certain sectors of the economy will be voided.

The decree also makes the curfew more flexible, which will start from 11:00 pm to 5:00 am, Monday through Saturday, with the exception of the provinces of Bocas del Toro, Colón and Chiriquí. Currently curfew runs from 7:00 pm until 5:00 am

The total quarantine will be maintained on Sundays in the provinces of Panama and Panama Oeste.

However, the Minsa has warned that, if the cases of Covid-19 increase, new  restrictions will be implemented.

A report from the Pan American Health Organization indicates that the decline in infections in the country suggests that the peak of the pandemic is being left behind, and the curve is being flattened.
