Over 300 burned vehicles – and counting
Modifications, lack of maintenance, mechanical repairs in unsuitable workshops and failed electrical system were the principal causes of 262 vehicle fires in the first five months of the year and the rate increased since says the Panama Fire Department.
In June 58 burning vehicles were reported, 20 more than in the same month last year. In 1918 the Fire Service attended 560 vehicle fires throughout the country.
Most of the problems originate in the engine. “If a fire starts in a car the driver should leave immediately and call emergency line 103,” says the Fire Department.
