Blitz on drunk drivers as 7 die on Panama roads
A hit and run driver behind the wheel of a taxi that killed a pedestrian in the Cochea sector of David, Chiriqui on Sunday, November 17 was filmed by another motorist who passed the evidence to the police. The driver later turned himself in.
The victim was the 42nd person killed on Chiriqui roads this year and the first of seven early week highway deaths. bringing the national toll this year to 291.

In Arraiján – a man was killed by a hit and run driver of a van on the La Chorrera highway, near Westland Mall.
In Sabanitas, the driver of a bus on the Vigía – Colón route hit and killed a cyclist.
Another cyclist training for an event was killed in Penonome.
In Coclé Raúl Hernández, 51, died in the hospital after suffering serious injuries in a collision on Monday afternoon.
The surge of deaths, sparked a police crackdown on impaired drivers and at one checkpoint in Panama City on Tuesday evening 10 drivers were fined and their cars towed.
