New dry law – curfew expanded

The increase in cases of covid-19 has led to the imposition of a new dry law and the expansion of curfew in the province of Panama.

Minister of Health, Luis Francisco Sucre made the announcement Monday, December 7.

Sucre specified that the new curfew measure will take effect as Tuesday, December 8, and will be from Monday to Sunday from 9:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m.

Within these hours the mobility of people, and the consumption and sale of alcoholic beverages are prohibited. In addition, the delivery service for the delivery of liquor is not allowed.

Resolution 1378, of December 7, 2020, of the Ministry of Health (Minsa), also establishes the prohibition to hold parties, celebrations or meetings that concentrate a large number of people in houses, or private homes, complexes or residential towers , property subject or not to the Horizontal Property Regime, and its common or social areas.

According to the document, the restriction applies to hotels, residential complexes, beach or country complexes that are private, with the exception of those that are carried out within the family bubble, which only include people who live in the residence.

Sucre reiterated his call to the general population to maintain biosecurity measures to prevent the spread of the virus and recalled that the family bubble is only the group of people who live in the same household.

The Health Minister also referred to the measures announced last week regarding sanctions for breaching health regulations, stating that the digital voucher was suspended “for a significant number of people” who did not comply with the provision, although not he specified the amount.

“Sanctions have also been applied to various restaurants. In operations in the Metropolitan Health Region, where about 80 establishments have been visited, 74 have been sanctioned; of these, 2 facilities have been closed, ”Sucre said
