Ex-president Trump facing 19 legal actions
Former US President Donald Trump, according to a recent count published by the British newspaper The Guardian. Half of these processes have to do with inappropriate conduct during his presidency (2017-2021).
According to The Guardian, most cases fall into three themes: financial irregularities that made him more money; his role in the insurrection of January 6, 2021; and his alleged interference in the 2020 elections.
Around lawsuits and investigations into possible financial irregularities, most of these cases allege that the former US president allegedly lied to reduce the amount of taxes he and his company paid.
January 6
Regarding the events of January 6, 2021, Trump is accused of allegedly inciting the riots that caused physical and emotional damage to the police officers. That day, supporters of the then outgoing US president stormed the Congress building, breached security, and occupied parts of the building for several hours. The event interrupted a joint session of the legislative power to count the vote of the Electoral College and certify the victory of Joe Biden in the 2020 elections.
More recently, Trump’s handling of his official documents is at the center of multiple investigations in the United States. And it is that in recent weeks, the tycoon has been accused of deliberately neglecting some of his files before their mandatory transmission to the US National Archives.
Trump has denied wrongdoing in most of these cases.
