Panama moves against litter louts

Thousands of new litter bins are being moved into areas across the city from Rio Bajo to Casco Viejo and stiff new fines will be levied against litter louts.

Fines will range from $15 to $15,000,  said the Urban and Household Waste Authority on Thursday, August 25.The authority also promises  legal action against people and businesses delinquent on their trash service payments.

If  the new rules are enforced Panama will be on the way to being a cleaner healthier and less cash strapped city.
