Four months old infant latest dengue fatality

A FOUR MONTHS OLD infant is the latest fatal victim of Panama’s dengue epedemic according to health officials.

 Carlos Gálvez , national director of the Ministry of Health (MoH ) said that this girl lived in the area of Nueva Libya. In the Torrijos Carter township, district of San Miguelito.

The death was reported December 30 and was confirmed by the Gorgas Memorial Institute.
 This infant had not been brought for medical attention, Galvez said on TVN News.
Gálvez reiterated that is necessary to eliminate the breeding sites of the mosquito Aedes aegypti , which transmits dengue, reports La Prensa
Earlier the MoH said that there are approximately 3,307 cases of dengue and 9 severe cases in the country.
This is the second death reported in 2014 and the sixth in the last six months.
