The Heart of our Identity and the Driving Force of Our People: The 2026 National Handicrafts Fair.

The 2026 National Handicrafts Fair is the most anticipated cultural event of the year because it constitutes the very manifestation of who we are, a bridge between our ancestral roots with this generation of Panamanians who have the unavoidable task of bequeathing it to the children and grandchildren of Panama.  Each piece on display is a work of art brought to life in this edition, carrying with it the history, effort, and soul of 677 artisans from every corner of the country. For the Ministry of Culture, this event represents the ideal opportunity to safeguard and promote our traditions, ensuring that the knowledge of our people continues to transcend generations. 

In the economic sphere, this major trade fair has established itself as a true driver of the national and local economy. The fair injects direct liquidity into sectors such as tourism, gastronomy, transportation, and commerce, strengthening the creative economy and demonstrating that culture is a genuine source of sustainable development. For the families of our artisans, it represents the culmination of a year’s hard work and a crucial opportunity to earn a dignified and honorable living, transforming their skilled hands into well-being, stability, and real socioeconomic progress. 

This year, the fair showcases a wide array of expressions that celebrate our diversity. We boast a rich culinary offering from all regions and an unprecedented folkloric display featuring 290 folk groups, with more than 40 groups performing daily, filling each day with music, dance, and vibrant color.  Artistic inclusion and cultural innovation stand out. This edition also highlights, in particular, the participation of the Center for Art and Culture Training (CFAC) and the City of Arts, which have two stands dedicated to promoting emerging talent and the comprehensive work we have been doing to support arts education.  From the Ministry of Culture, we invite the entire country to be part of this grand celebration of Panamanian identity.
