The Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office of Panama Requests the Arrest of Former AMP Administrator Noriel Arauz
The arrest warrant was issued by the Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office in June 2026.
This Wednesday, July 8, the National Police captured at Tocumen International Airport the former administrator of the Panama Maritime Authority (AMP), Noriel Araúz, who arrived in the country on a flight from Asunción, Paraguay.

He was part of the government of Laurentino Cortizo (2019-2024). According to authorities, Araúz, who served as administrator of the AMP during the period 2019-2024, is under investigation by the Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office for the alleged commission of the crime against public administration, in the form of unjustified enrichment. According to the investigations, the alleged financial loss amounts to $1.3 million after concluding his term as director of the AMP.
