After Devastating Earthquake in Venezuela Flights to Caracas are Suspended: Panama Activates Humanitarian Aid

The Panamanian government is organizing collection centers and rescue teams, while Copa Airlines is suspending flights to Caracas due to the collapse of Maiquetía airport.

Panama activated its international assistance protocols after the powerful earthquake that struck Venezuela, which has so far left a preliminary official toll of more than 164 dead, multiple injured and serious material damage.  “Our deepest solidarity and support go out to Venezuela following the earthquake and its aftermath. Panama, once again, offers its humanitarian aid to our sister nations,” the president stated.

Following the two earthquakes that shook several Venezuelan cities yesterday, causing serious damage and disruption, the Panamanian government announced this Thursday, June 25, that it will send specialized personnel to assist in rescue efforts.  “I have instructed the dispatch of a mission of rescuers and Sinaproc personnel to Venezuela to collaborate in the rescue and salvage operations. We hope that the effects of this tragedy will soon be stabilized,” Mulino wrote on the social network.
