Panama Prosecutor Investigates Assets of 13 People and 12 Companies in the Public Registry in the Unachi Case

The Attorney General of the Nation, Luis Carlos Gómez, led an on-site inspection this Friday, May 29, at the facilities of the Public Registry of Panama, as part of an investigation being carried out by the Attorney General’s Office for alleged irregularities linked to the Autonomous University of Chiriquí (Unachi). The Public Prosecutor’s Office has been following the trail of the assets accumulated by the rector, Etelvina Medianero de Bonagas, and her closest family for more than a year.

Six Candidates Seek the Rectorship at the University of Panama: The Campaign Period Opens

The campaign period has begun at the University of Panama (UP) Faculty of Law, pictured above. The University Electoral Body announced that, from Friday, May 29, until June 29, candidates for the position of rector may campaign. These are the professors Roberto Ah Chong, from the “Ah Chong Akometiendo” list; César García, with the “Experience to transform and will to serve” list; Migdalia Bustamante Villarreal, candidate of the “First woman in the rectorship of the University of Panama” list; Corina Pérez, of “The University as head and not tail” list; Denis Chávez, of “Together for change” list; and Emilio Moreno, of the “United for the UP” list.
For these Elections, the University Projects the Participation of 77,015 Voters.
