Alleged Embezzlement at Panama’s Don Bosco School During Operation ‘Pupitre’: Former Officials Arrested

Three people, including two former officials and a private citizen, were arrested this Thursday, April 30, as part of Operation “Pupitre,” carried out by officials from the Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office, in conjunction with agents from the Judicial Investigation Directorate of the National Police. The arrests were made amid an investigation into the alleged crime of embezzlement to the detriment of the Don Bosco Professional and Technical Institute, which would have generated an approximate economic loss of $130,000.

These proceedings were carried out in the Nuevo Belén and Don Bosco sectors, where raids were carried out in three residences, with the authorization of a judge of guarantees. During the operations, the authorities managed to locate documentation related to the investigation, which will be incorporated as evidence within the process. According to authorities, two of those arrested held management positions at the affected educational center.
