To Fix the Traffic Jam in the Southern Corridor of Panama City, it will Cost Upwards to $300 Million

More lanes for the highway. The growth of areas like Costa del Este, Santa María, Don Bosco, and the connections with Brisas del Golf are generating traffic pressure.

The traffic jam on the Southern Corridor has ceased to be an occasional problem and has become part of the daily routine for thousands of drivers.  Behind this pressure lies a clear change in the city: the accelerated growth of residential and commercial areas to the east.

Neighborhoods like Santa María, Metro Park, Tocumen, and Brisas del Golf have multiplied the number of people who depend on the Southern Corridor to get to the city center, to work, or to the airport. Every new real estate project, every logistics park, or corporate center adds more vehicles.  The Southern Corridor expansion project involves adding two additional lanes in each direction, bringing the total to four lanes in each direction. Improvements will be made to the toll booths to prevent bottlenecks.
