Rains Cause Significant River Overflow in Bocas del Toro

The Teribe River, in the Puente El Silencio sector, Bocas del Toro, is experiencing a significant increase in its flow, with turbid waters and a strong current, so the National Civil Protection System (Sinaproc) placed a red flag this Friday.

Authorities warn that these conditions pose a danger to anyone traveling on or attempting to enter the river, including residents and visitors. Sinaproc personnel remain in the area monitoring the situation and ensuring that safety measures are followed.

According to the official report, the rising river increases the risk of:

  • Dragging of people and vehicles
  • Accidents in riverine areas
  • Flash floods

The main recommendation is not to enter the tributary while these conditions persist and to follow the instructions of emergency personnel.

Precautions also on the coast

In other areas, such as El Uverito beach in Los Santos, a yellow flag was raised , indicating that swimming should be done with caution. Authorities are urging visitors to take extra precautions and respect the lifeguards’ signals.
