$5 million Allocated for Sanitation Services, Solid Waste Collection, and Decontamination of Rivers

The Panama City Mayor’s Office, headed by Mayer Mizrachi, has allocated nearly $5 million to pay for sanitation services, solid waste collection, and decontamination of the Matías Hernández and Río Abajo rivers, as well as the beaches of the Bay of Panama. Mizrachi’s $5 million river cleanup tender raises concerns about possible duplication of services. Wanda, pictured below, the collection wheel installed by Marea Verde before the mouth of the Juan Díaz River, collects much of the waste that flows down the tributary.
