Beach Cleaning Costa del Este – 30 Tons of Waste
Some 700 volunteers committed to protecting the environment carried out a clean-up campaign in the Costa del Este area. The activity resulted in the collection of approximately 30 tons of waste. This event not only marked the beginning of the celebrations for Oceans Month, but also helps raise awareness about the impact of plastics and other polluting activities on the oceans. Yarelys Gómez, Deputy Director of Resilience and Environmental Impact of the Mayor’s Office of Panama, expressed her gratitude to the United States Embassy and all the participants for their collaboration in this important cause. He said: “This is just the beginning of a month full of activities dedicated to protecting our oceans.”
