Businessmen claim millions lost daily due to protests

It is estimated by business associations that millions of dollars are lost every day due to protests and closures on the Pan-American Highway.

The National Council of Private Enterprise (Conep) issued a statement on Friday, October 20 to indicate its position due to the tense situation experienced at the national level due to the approval of the third debate of the mining contract.

As the first point of the statement, it urged that there be a dialogue to address the crisis of the Disability, Old Age and Death (IVM) program of the Social Security Fund (CSS), and indicated that, from Conep, they are committed to participating in a purposeful way and approaches “based on data and not speculation.”
