Doctors will play catch-up for 4,595 missed appointments during strike
More than 4,595 appointments were postponed due to the medical strike at the Rafael Hernández Hospital in Chiriquí, so the plan is to have an additional three or four per day for each specialist, announced the medical director, Dr. Rolando Caballero, with that they expect to recover in three weeks.
The hospital administration drew up an appointment recovery plan, which began, Friday, and which also involves contacting patients by phone so that they show up for their new appointments.
The doctors ended the strike after the resignation of the deputy medical director.
“We can add appointments to each specialist and it is possible that in three or four weeks they have recovered. They will be made through calls, but the population can also personally approach medical records”, specified Dr. Rolando Caballero.
Dr. José Daniel Saldaña, institutional director of the CSS in Chiriquí, said that the authorities will ensure that appointments are assigned and recovered so that this does not harm patients, “who are our true reason for being.”
The specialties most affected during the medical strike are Orthopedics, Urology, Nephrology, and Ophthalmology.
