Bloody weekend on Chiriqui roads leaves three dead and six injured
In less than 24 hours, three people lost their lives in different traffic events in Chiriquí raising the highway death toll in the province so far this year to 65 and the national total to 207.
According to the National Directorate of Traffic Operations (DNOT), it was a case of hit-and-run in Boquerón, a collision, and crash in Bugaba, and a crash and rollover case in the Tolé district.
The first case occurred at 7:15 p.m. on Saturday, when Virgilio Jiménez, 48, died at the entrance to the Bágala community, in the Boquerón district.
His body was left lying on the Pan-American highway, after being hit by a vehicle driven by a 28-year-old, who remains under the orders of the authorities. On Sunday afternoon, at approximately 3:30 pm, a young man identified as Antony Francechi, died in a triple crash under the elevated bridge that leads to the Pablo Espinoza de Bugaba Polyclinic.
Three others were injured and treated by paramedics and transported to a medical center.
Finally, at 4:06 in the afternoon, another crash-type traffic accident and rollover was reported on the Pan-American Highway, near the Tabasará in Tolé leaving three seriously injured and one fatality, who died inside the vehicle.
