Company that caused oil spill in Juan Diaz River identified

 

The Panama Maritime Authority (AMP) reported on Wednesday, morning July 5, that its staff and the Ministry of the Environment (MiAmbiente) have identified the company that caused the bunker spill in the Juan Díaz River.

According to the AMP, the main source of the spill was one of the fuel tanks used in the boilers, where the product came out of the containment waterwheel and fell down the cliff that flows into the Juan Díaz River.”The company declared itself responsible for the damage and contacted one of the mitigation companies authorized by the AMP”, subsequently began the work of containment, mitigation, and cleaning of the area.
