Three more ‘unvaccinated’  influenza deaths

The Ministry of Health (Minsa) confirmed on Wednesday three new deaths from influenza, with which Panama has accumulated a total of 13 deaths so far this year, said Melva Cruz, general director of the Public Health institution.

Two of new deaths were registered, in the metropolitan region and one in San Miguelito.

The deceased did not have the influenza vaccine and had risk factors such as diabetes, hypertension, and obesity.

“Vaccines are effective and protect us against serious cases and even death,” Cruz emphasized.

From Monday to Friday , the influenza vaccine is being applied in all health centers, police centers and Minsa-Capsi, from 7:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

The Minsa Expanded Immunization Program reported that they have doses to meet the high demand.
