Tocumen International readies for northbound birds

From the month of February until the first weeks of May, the season of the migratory return of birds of prey from South America to North America begins, for which the Tocumen International Airport reported that monitoring is being carried out and precautionary measures are applied.

The Fauna Control Department of Tocumen, SA monitors and records the dates, times, quantities, and species of birds that fly over the airport, in order to mitigate in a timely manner possible effects on air operation

According to a statement, the record reflects that the greatest migratory flow of birds occurs during daylight hours between 8:00 am and 5:30 pm; while other smaller species maintain their journey at night.
