Macho culture in boardrooms and beyond

Although there are advances, in Latin America, women continue to be a minority in leadership positions in corporate organizations. This is evidenced by an analysis of gender equality in corporate management in the region, prepared thanks to the United Nations Organization and the International Finance Corporation of the World Bank. In the case of Panama, although some corporations do everything possible to achieve gender equality, the truth is that women are still far from having that equality, despite the fact that it has been shown that more and more women prepare better academically and professionally, but this increase is not reflected in the occupation of managerial and executive positions. This is also common in politics and government, sectors in which the presence of men predominates, despite the fact that there are legal provisions that order or seek gender equality. And despite the reluctance to admit it, a macho culture reigns in Panama that prevents women from earning as much as the opposite sex or holding relevant positions. These questionable positions against women must be combated, beginning with the school that exerts the most influence on its members: the home. – LA PRENSA, Dec. 26
