OPINION:  A path towards total ruin

It seems that the greatest desire of the Government is to leave the country in total ruin, given the voracity with which it consumes resources that we do not have. The fiscal deficit of the public sector in the first six months of the year already amounts to $1.92 billion, expenses that are covered with debt. In other words, we have that there is zero cost containment; that there is not a single sacrifice in the public sector; who borrow money to pay bills, per diems, trips, who steal from us with two hands; that the Comptroller’s Office is a zero to the left and that the Executive either allows itself to be bossed around or is complicit in all of this.

This leads us to think about the lack, of seriousness –or incompetence– that reign  in the Government in the management of public finances, because with these results, the risk rating agencies should not take long to strongly warn us about the consequences of this uncontrolled spending, which could affect our rating, since it is evident that the accumulated debt can become risky. The fiscal discipline of this administration has ended up being a great party, in which there has been no shortage of $450 whiskey; meals of $30,000; trips of $15 000 or museums of $14 million. Not even Macondo is so unreal. – LA PRENSA, Aug, 15.
