Yellow alert means an “imminent” risk

The Civil Protection System (Sinaproc) has declared a yellow alert for Colón, Chiriquí, Veraguas, Bocas del Toro, and the Ngäbe Buglé region meaning that the level of risk is increased and the emergency is “imminent”.

The warning is due to the increase in weather instability, due to the collateral effects of the passage of tropical cyclone two, over the region in the coming days.

The tropical disturbance with cyclone potential is located in South America. The Electricity Transmission Company, SA indicated that -according to forecasts- its trajectory is expected at night over the Caribbean Sea, and it will be located off the coast of Panama as a tropical storm until Friday.

For the rest of the country and until the weather conditions improve, a preventive green alert will be in force, due to the continuity of rains and storms in the national territory, Sinaproc said.

During this yellow alert, operational teams are ready to provide humanitarian response to potential emergencies.
