Canada announces new sanctions on 10 Russians close to Putin

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau announced on Monday, March 7, new sanctions against 10 Russians close to the Kremlin following Russia’s “unjustified invasion” of Ukraine, at a joint press conference in London with his British and Dutch counterparts.

These ten people, current and former senior government officials, tycoons, and other supporters of the Russian president “come from a list drawn up by the imprisoned opposition leader Alexei Navalny,” he said.

“The sanctions increase the pressure on the Russian leadership, including the inner circle of (Vladimir) Putin,” he stressed.
