COVID-19: Hospitalized numbers down 71%
The number of patients hospitalized by Covid-19 has fallen by 71% from a year ago.
By October 25, 2020, the Ministry of Health (Minsa) registered a total of 684 hospitalized due to the virus, while for the same date in 2021, 201 were reported. That is, 483 fewer hospitalized, 71%.
If the patients in the ward are taken into account, by October 25, 2020, the number was 559, while yesterday’s epidemiological report from Minsa reported 172.
In intensive care, for this date in 2020, there were 125, while until yesterday only 29.
The statistics of active cases also reflect a notable decrease; As of October 25, 2020, 21,403 were registered and yesterday the reported amount was 2,299.
The Panamanian medical specialist and researcher, Paulino Vigil-De Gracia, recalled that avoiding a new rebound in cases depends on the population.
He stressed that getting vaccinated is the most important thing, wearing masks and avoiding crowds outside the family nucleus is key.
