PANDEMIC – No room for charlatanism
A fact that should not go unnoticed is that local scientists predict that one of the most dangerous mutations of the new coronavirus will inevitably reach Panama. Faced with this scenario, once again it is urgent that the population maintain the recommended sanitary measures during this pandemic, but it also requires that all Panamanians be immunized as soon as the vaccines arrive in the country.
We suffer the third peak of infections and the arrival of virus mutations may worsen the already precarious situation in the country. Any citizen who refuses to be immunized becomes a vector of contagion and puts the lives of others who wait their turn to be vaccinated at risk. Eventually, the Government will have to take action on it, since, although it is a decision that belongs to each individual, its consequences affect third parties, who, having made and complied with the health recommendations, may face the risk of contagion and become seriously ill.
Likewise, it is enormously irresponsible to divulge falsehoods and news without corroboration. The new scenario is very dangerous for everyone and, in the face of it, there should be no room for charlatanism. LA PRENSA, Jul. 27.
