US over 3 million covid jabs a day
The United States managed to administer more than 3 million doses of Covid-19 vaccines for the first time on two consecutive days, according to official figures released Sunday.
New data from the Center for Disease Prevention and Control (CDC) confirms the growing scope and success of vaccine distribution in the US.
The CDC reported that 3.04 million doses had been administered in 24 hours as of Sunday morning, down from 3.12 million the day before. The average of the last seven days was 2.44 million doses per day, according to their figures.
The United States is the country that has registered the most deaths from Covid-19 in the world so far, with almost 542,000. But it is also implementing one of the most successful vaccination campaigns.
According to the CDC, 24.% Of the population has already received at least one dose of the immunizers, while 13.3% are fully vaccinated.
Among the population 65 years and older, 69% have already received at least one dose.
US President Joe Biden said Thursday that the country would exceed its goal of administering at least one dose of the vaccine to 100 million people in his first 100 days in office a month early.
“We may be able to double it,” he told reporters, adding that these 100 million doses were “just the floor.”
Three vaccines are now licensed in the United States: the two-dose Pfizer / BioNTech and Moderna, in addition to the single-dose Johnson & Johnson.
