Bus lines a contaigon risk

While public transit largely adheres to the Ministry of Health biosecurity guidelines for passengers who have boarded  the buses  there are concerns about the level of contagion in the waiting lines.

The company Mi Bus reported that there are external situations that influence the arrival time of buses, which they cannot control, such as heavy traffic, rainy days, accidents on the roads, and protests, among others.

The scene is repetitive reports La Prensa: crowds of people waiting for public transport in the afternoon; a situation that should be avoided since it is a source of contagion for Covid-19.

Passengers complain that there is not enough transportation at 6:00 pm to go home, so they have to wait at stops.

The company Mi Bus reported that since last December 14 they have been reinforcing the service with 400 bus trips, in addition to the 10,000 that were being scheduled. Before the pandemic, there were about 10,600 bus trips.

In addition, it indicated that the maximum occupancy of 45 passengers is maintained (17 passengers are seated and the other 28, standing), as indicated by the   Health since August, which corresponds to 55% of the design capacity of these vehicles .

The company maintains that there are multiple studies that indicate that the public transport system is not a source of contagion, as long as biosecurity measures are met.
