Under-40's lead new Covid-19 infections

 

Panama registers a rebound in Covid19 and the highest number of infections is occurring in people under 39 years of age, according to the latest epidemiological report from the Ministry of Health (Minsa).

This report also explains that the age group of 40 to 80 years reflects fewer cases but accumulates the highest number of deaths.

According to the Minsa, in the age group from 0 to 39 years there are 94,830 active cases (57.6%), while in the age group from 40 to 80 years and over, the figures report 69,899 cases (42.4%).

The report specifies that 2,890 deaths have occurred among patients aged 40 to 80 years and 170 among the 0-39 group.

Health authorities reiterated their call to the population not to relax security measures to prevent the spread of the virus, recalling that parties are prohibited and that the family bubble belongs to people who live under the same roof.

In addition, family and friend gatherings are sources of contagion.

In Mondayesterday’s report, the Minsa reported 1,077 new positive cases, for a cumulative total of 165,806.

7,061 { were applied, for a percentage of positivity of 15.2% and there were 19 new deaths.
