1,000 packages of Europe-bound drugs seized
The pandemic has done little to slow the activities of drug smugglers in the Panama distribution hub, and gangland killings climb daily in the war to control the trade. At least a thousand packages of drugs placed in a container destined for Europe were seized in the port of Cristóbal in the province of Colón, on Friday, September 11.
The merchandise was hidden inside 25 suitcases, reported Deputy Commissioner Waldemar Herrera, head of the Colon police zone.
The investigation was carried out jointly by the National Police and personnel of the Public Ministry. So far there are no detainees in the case.
