Plea-deal sentence for cafe murder of American
A trial court sentenced Mario Márquez to 28 years in jail and his accomplice Jonathan Rojas to 18 years for the gunning down of American citizen Michael Moisick while he was eating breakfast in the Coffee Beans and Tea cafeteria in Punta Pacifica in January 2018. Two other foreigners were injured during the shooting.
The sentences, handed down on Monday, November 18 were the result of a penalty agreement between the guilty parties and the prosecution.
Family members of the murdered man and staff of the United States Embassy attended the hearing in the Accusatory Criminal System of Plaza Ágora.
