7-day high tide alert for Pacific coast
A seven- day high tide prevention alert for the Panama Pacific Coast was issued by the Civil Protection Service (Sinaproc) on Friday, September 27.
The warning remains in effect until Friday, October 4 with maximum tides reaching 18.6 feet (5.67 meters) . Omar Smith, general director of Sinaproc asked the population to follow the preventive measures, since, if the tides coincide with rains, they could increase the levels of rivers and streams, causing floods.
Meanwhile, the entity recommended keeping children, older adults and people with disabilities under surveillance and warns all people entering the sea to be cautious.
In case of flooding, keep calm, call emergency entities, lower the lever of the electrical panel of your home and evacuate immediately to high and safe areas.
In addition, light boats must use navigation equipment and life jackets.
