43,000 migrate from private to public schools
Over 43,000 students across the country, migrated from private schools to the public system due to the increasing cost of tuition and school supplies. The drastic decrease reduces attendance down to 109.000 according to the Ministry of Education.
Katya Echeverría, of the Private Schools Association, says that the exodus is due to the increase in salary for full-time teachers.
Public school teachers recently got a $300 a month pay hike.
