Green quake alert for Chiriqui

 

Panama’s Civil Protection system issued a 72-hour  preventive green alert for the province of Chiriquí on Friday afternoon, June 28   after the recent earthquakes recorded in Puerto Armuelles.

According to Sinaproc, the alert is aimed at promoting the culture of risk reduction.

“We call for calm and generate a preventive culture, through evacuation drills in case of earthquakes,” said the entity.

“It will be monitored with scientific and technical personnel during the 72 hours,” said  Reyes Jimenez. the general manager in charge

This Friday an earthquake of magnitude 5.1 was recorded in Puerto Armuelles, which had a series of shocks from 6.5 to 4.7 in the three days before.

Meanwhile business and tourist activities will continue as usual.
