Blandon names runnig mate in presidential race

José Isabel Blandón, presidential candidate of the Panameñista Party, and former Panama mayor has named a former head of the Colon Free Zone, engineer Nilda Quijano as his vice-presidential running mate in the 2019 election which has seven contestants including three independents.

There is only one woman running for president-Ana Matilde Gomez- who was elected as the only lawmaker with no party ties in 2014  She had the most supporter signatures of three independent presidential runners.

Blandón and Quijano went to the headquarters of the Electoral Tribunal accompanied by dozens of supporters.on Tuesday to make his choice for Vice-president official.
