OPINION: No time for climate change excuses
A report by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) of the United Nations Organization updated the estimates on the threats of climate change. Experts say that if the current patterns of greenhouse gas pollution continue by 2030, the global temperature could rise to 1.5 degrees Celsius above the pre-industrial averages. The risk of a higher sea level more diseases, more droughts, more desertification, and more plagues makes it urgent that all countries become aware of and accelerate their efforts to reduce emissions of polluting gases. Panama has much to do to prevent deforestation, eliminate the burning of sugarcane and other vegetation, and especially in terms of energy efficiency. There is no time for excuses. – LAPRENSA. Oct.9
