Party jumping deputy heading key committee


Controversial CD Deputy Sergio Chello Gálvez, who gained notoriety for his annual distribution of taxpayer-funded hams and turkeys to his constituents, took office on  Wednesday, July 18 as president of the powerful National Assembly  Credentials Committee.

The act was attended by the current president of the Legislature, Yanibel Ábrego, and the Secretary-General of the Public Ministry, Rolando Rodríguez.

“I am a deputy with challenges and I do not fear work. I like to face the situations that present me with the purpose of making the best decisions in the interest of the Nation,” said Galvez who has survived in the Assembly under several party banners, and was its president for one year.

He said that he will preside over a commission that will play a predominant role in the last period of the current administration(2014-2019).

He indicated that they will comply, as established by law, with the revision of the appointments made by the  Executive, to then recommend to the plenary its approval or not.

Gálvez indicated that they will also assess with responsibility all the complaints  presented against the President and the judges of the Supreme Court

On the amendments to the Internal Rules of the Assembly, he explained that there are currently some nine initiatives that were sent to a subcommittee.
