Heavy rain alert, floods, landslides
The Emergency Operations Center of the National Civil Protection System (Sinaproc) has extended the 72-hour heavy rain warning for through to July 4 due to the incursion of Tropical Wave No. 12 and the reactivation of the low-pressure systems of Colombia and Panama.
According to the Etesa Hydrometeorology report, intense rainy events are expected from the afternoon on July 1 and extend until early Monday morning.
On July 2 and 3, the Tropical Wave is expected to extend to Costa Rica and Nicaragua.
In Darién, Guna Yala and part of the eastern sector of the province of Panama, rainy conditions will be maintained through the night of July 2 and 3.
The Sinaproc recommends to the population to pay attention to the climate reports and to avoid rivers, gorges with and to be vigilante in zones vulnerable to landslides.
