Marriott name to adorn former Trump flagship

The former Trump Tower (and hotel)  that has been wrapped in controversy and scandal since its apartments were first marketed is set for yet another relaunch and name change.

Ithaca Capital has announced that the Bahia Grand Panama hotel -the current name which replaced “Trump Ocean Club International Hotel & Tower”  will be called from September JW Marriott, the luxury brand of the American hotel operator Marriott International.

The troubled complex was operated until March of this year by Trump Panama Hotel Management, company linked to the president of the United States, Donald Trump, but after a bitter confrontation with the owner of the property, the Cypriot Orestes Fintiklis, managing partner of Ithaca Capital, Trump’s company lost the operation of the hotel.

Ithaca Capital signed agreements with Marriott International to change the hotel brand to JW Marriott, under a long administration contract term reports La Prensa

“We are delighted that our hotel operates as JW Marriott and we believe that this partnership, along with a talented services team it will be a success, ” said Fintiklis.

There are about 80 hotels in 25 countries with the JW Marriott brand.

The hotel will be  the twelfth with the JW Marriott name operating in the region.
