Martinelli attacks judge: “You hate me”

After a day trying to avoid appearing at a court hearing, including alleged health problems, ex-president Ricardo Martinelli tried another tack when he finally appeared at 6.37 pm on Monday, June 25. before the  Judge of Guarantees Jerónimo Mejía for a hearing that had been scheduled for 9 a.,

“You do not like me, you hate me, for reasons I do not know, but that does not matter here. I feel politically persecuted, my rights and my health are violated, “Martinelli told the judge.

The accusation hearing is for  the alleged commission of crimes against the inviolability of secrecy and the right to privacy, and embezzlement.

“They told me that the magistrate wanted me here dead or alive” said Martinelli.

Judge Mejía denied having any “feelings of animadversion “and that the ex-ruler was conducted following the protocols of the General Directorate of the Penitentiary System.

The former president was taken from the El Renacer prison to the Gil Ponce Palace of Justice, despite the appeals and arguments alleged by his defense to not appear at the prosecution hearing requested by the prosecuting magistrate Harry Diaz.

Diaz, in turn, considered the indications of  Martinelli “inadmissible”

“We cannot every week be looking at health issues,” he told Mejía.

At the request of the defense, the testimony of Dr. Feliciano Eloy Maure, from El Renacer, was heard.

Maure who performed an electrocardiogram on Martinelli in the prison said: “I’m not here to fuck anyone … Right now there is nothing that compromises your life.”

Maure, who pointed out that it was not necessary to hospitalize the accused.

The defense also requested to hear the statement of Roniel Ortiz -lawyer of Martinelli- and the former lady Marta Linares, who were present when the former president was evacuated from his quarters in the prison, bound for the Court. [story developing]
