World Youth Day Count Down Clock Inauguration
A CLOCK that will make the countdown to the celebration of the World Youth Day (WYD), in Panama in January 2019 will be inaugurated in Parque Urraca on Easter Sunday, April 1.
WYD is expected to attract between 370,000 -and 40,0000 pilgrims from around the world and will be attended by Pope Francis from January 22 to 27, 2019, says the Archdiocese of Panama
The inauguration event will take place within the framework a “Grand Caravan” convened by the Catholic Church
The Archbishop of Panama, José Domingo Ulloa has invited the population to dress up on Sunday, April 1 and participate in the Caravan that will leave Sports City “Irving Saladino”, in Juan Díaz in the capital, to celebrate “The Resurrection”
“We want to take to the streets this demonstration of joy, only a few months before World Youth Day 2019″, in our country. said the Archbishop through a press release.
The Caravan will pause in front of Parque Urraca -where the Archbishop will inaugurate and bless the Countdown Clock. “The exhortation is for everyone to participate with their families … in this Easter Caravan, which will have a flavor of World Youth Day,” the Archdioceses statement said.
The caravan will start at 2:00 p.m. and will travel the main roads of the capital city to culminate in the San Mateo temple or Divine Mercy Center, in Paitilla.
The last WYD, , is a religious event that every two or three years brings together the Pope with young people from around the world for a week. The last one was in Krakow (Poland) in 2016, and was attended by President Varela and the First Lady who had been conducting an intense lobbying program to bring the event to Panama.
The last Pope who visited Central America was San Juan Pablo II, in 1983.
